Hatters Host Kennesaw State, Mercer in Pivotal Weekend

Stetson lacrosse closes out its home schedule this weekend when the Hatters host an important ASUN Conference game, and also honor their outgoing seniors. Stetson hosts conference foe Kennesaw State, 5 p.m., Friday, and then welcomes Mercer, Noon, Sunday on Senior Day. Admission is free.
 
Prior to the Mercer game, seniors Erin Cornell, Maddie Holvey, Devon McKercher, Hallie Merz, Taylor Patrizi, Kathi Ricci and Rachel Valocchi will be honored as they play their final home game.
 
While Senior Day is always an important date on every team's schedule, Friday's game will have more of a far-reaching impact on Setson's season. The Hatters (4-10 overall, 1-2 ASUN) enter play on Friday in fifth place in the ASUN standings. With the conference taking just four teams to the postseason, and just one conference game remaining for both teams after this weekend, a win over the Owls (5-9, 1-1) will go a long way toward helping secure a postseason berth for the Hatters.
 
Mercer, a member of the Southern Conference, enters the weekend at 5-9 overall. The Bears are led on the field by senior midfielder Lindsey Zeltwanger, who has 23 goals and 37 assists on the season.
 
The Hatters come into the weekend riding a wave of momentum after sweeping weekend play last week. Stetson downed Delaware State, 22-2, and picked up its first ASUN win of the season on Sunday with a 19-4 victory over Howard.
