Hatters Close Season Sunday at Jacksonville

Stetson lacrosse closes out the 2018 season on Sunday when the Hatters visit ASUN Conference foe Jacksonville at 1 p.m.

The Hatters (4-12 overall, 1-3 ASUN) were elimnated from contention for the ASUN Tournament after last Friday's 19-16 home loss to Kennesaw State. Jacksonville (13-3, 4-0) will serve as the tournament's No. 1 seed when tournament play begins on May 3.

Despite this being the final game for the Hatters, there is still some drama left in the season as several players chase school records and various milestones:

  • Senior Hallie Merz, who earlier this season became Stetson's all-time leader in points, currently holds the single-season points record with 51. But freshman Riley Reagan is right behind her with 50.
  • Merz (34) and Reagan (33) are also jostling to see if either can pass former Hatter Lindsay Summers' school record of 36 assists in a season
  • Merz enters her final game currently tied with Summers for the all-time assist record with 87
  • Karli Maguire and Taylor Patrizi are battling for the team lead in goals as both have 32, which is also the second-best number for one season in program history
  • Patrizi will be looking to solidify her hold on the career goals record she already holds, as she enters her final game with 89, 10 ahead of Merz
  • Patrizi can also become Stetson's all-time leaders in caused turnovers with four more. She is currently three behind Julia Lozano, who tallied 36 from 2014-17.
  • Merz and Maddie Holvey will play in their 69th career games on Sunday, which will finish one behind Summers' record of 70.
  • If she hasn't already, Holvey can put the single-season draw control record completely out reach with a strong effort this weekend. The ASUN leader this season, Holvey's 65 draws in 2018 are 19 more than the next closest Hatter, which was Maddie Holvey a year ago.
  • Goalie Liza Diamond is three saves shy of becoming the first Hatter to record 150 saves in consecutive season

Sunday's game will not be live steamed, but fans still can the action without being in Jacksonville. Live stats will be available, and fans can also follow the team's official Twitter feed @StetsonLacrosse for in-game updates and highlights.
