Hatters Cap Arizona Trip With Pair of Victories

Lexi Ham Wins in Front of a Hometown Crowd

Tempe, Ariz. -- Stetson completed its Arizona trip on a winning note, defeating Arizona State 4-1 and Vanguard 5-0 Saturday afternoon at the PERA Club in Tempe.

The 17th-ranked Hatters (23-8) went 3-2 on the road trip and earned their first-ever win over a Pac-12 foe on Saturday. Stetson has now won 19 of its last 22 matches overall.

Against the Sun Devils, the Hatters picked up three-set wins at the 2 seed, the 4 seed, and the 5 seed, plus added a 2-0 win by Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas at the 1 seed.

At the 2 seed, Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales capped a 5-0 road trip with a 2-1 win over ASU (15-9 third set) and a 2-0 win vs. Vanguard.

Playing in front of a hometown crowd, Paradise Valley native Lexi Ham picked up her first career win against Vanguard. She and Rachel Noble won 21-11, 21-11 at the 3 seed.

At the 4 seed, Julie Varga and Lauren Durham won 2-1 vs. ASU (15-10 third set) and 2-0 against Vanguard.

At the 5 seed, Quinci Birker and Rebecca Ingram tallied a three-set win vs. ASU (16-14 in the third set). Alexa Richardson and Katinka Krahn were victorious in straight sets against Vanguard.

The Hatters have now won 37 consecutive matches against unranked opponents, including all 21 matches this season.

Stetson will return to ASUN play next weekend in Estero, Fla.
