Hatters Edged at Navy

Navy's Baseley McCaskey scored the game's only goal in the 56th minute as the Midshipmen edged Stetson, 1-0, on Friday at Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Md.

Navy out-shot Stetson, 13-2, with six of their shots coming on-goal. The loss is Stetson's first of the season and drops the Hatters to 2-1. Navy improves to 2-1.

"Navy was aggressive, well-organized, and disciplined. They are a good team. They're picked to win the Patriot League," Stetson head coach Manoj Khettry said. "I thought our second half was better than the first half. We have to find a way to be better in the first 45 minutes."

After a scoreless first half, Navy scored the game-winner when McCaskey sank a free kick from 19 yards away, just out of the reach of Stetson keeper Emily Plotz.

Plotz finished the game with five saves, giving her 15 in three games this season.

Stetson continues its weekend play when the Hatters visit George Washington, 1 p.m., Sunday.
