Hatters Downed at George Washington

George Washington's Natalie Silberman scored a pair of goals to lead the Colonials to a 4-1 win over Stetson, Sunday afternoon at GW Soccer Field in Washington, D.C.
 
Silberman scored the game's first two goals to help the Colonials (4-0) to an early 2-0 advantage on the Hatters (2-2). Her first score came just 12 minutes into the match, and that goal stood as the only score until the second half.
 
Silberman made it a 2-0 game in the 51st minute with an unassisted goal, before Stetson's Hailey Williams scored her second goal of the season in the 60th minute. Her tally closed the gap to 2-1 as Claire Morrison picked up the assist.
 
But Williams' score didn't slow GW. The Colonials took a 3-1 lead on a score by Mia Barreda in the 64th minute, and Alex William's scored for the Colonials in the 85th minute to put the game away.
 
In the end, GW out-shot Stetson by a 16-6 margin. Emily Plotz and Maggie Beatty shared time in goal and combined to make nine saves.
 
The Hatters next visit Georgia Southern, 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1 before hosting Detroit Mercy next Sunday at 1 p.m.
