Stetson's Justine Lauer shined in her debut for the Hatters, earning a fourth-place tie at the William & Mary Invitational, to collects the first ASUN Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honor for the new season.
 
A junior transfer from Utah Valley State, Lauer carded a four-over par score of 218 to finish tied for fourth in her debut event for the Hatters. The native of LeEtang La Ville, France, started her play with back-to-back rounds of 72 before finishing with a four-over 76 on Monday in the final round of play at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
 
Lauer finished 10 strokes back of the eventual champion who was the only player to break par in the final round. Inclement weather played a part in the first two rounds of play, causing the field to see higher scores as a result. 
 
Lauer and the Hatters will be back in action this weekend when they compete in the USA Intercollegiate, hosted by South Alabama. Play will begin in the event, which will be played on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Course at Magnolia Grove, on Saturday.
 
That event will include a total of 17 teams and will be played over three days, with 18 holes of competition each day.
 
Other teams scheduled to compete include UAB – which is coached by former Hatter Ryan Ashburn – Alabama State, Arkansas State, California Baptist, Georgia State, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, South Florida, Southern Miss, UT Arlington, Tulane, Western Kentucky and Little Rock in addition to the host South Alabama squad.
