Hatters Play to Scoreless Draw

Stetson and Detroit Mercy battled to a scoreless draw, Sunday at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand.
 
The Hatters (3-2-1) and Titans (1-3-1) battled about as evenly as two teams can, with each getting 16 shots. Stetson provided significantly more pressure, with 11 shots on-goal. But UDM keeper Marina Manzo made 10 saves, including a save of a penalty kick in the first half.
 
Stetson keeper Emily Plotz collected three saves in recording her second straight shutout. Plotz, who now has 14 career shutouts, hasn't allowed a goal in over 200 minutes.
 
The Hatters dominated play in the game's first 45 minutes, closing the half with a 9-2 advantage on shots. Detroit Mercy battled back in the second half with a flurry of shots, but most were wild attempts that never came close to doing damage.
 
Stetson was the more aggressive team, getting whistled for 20 fouls compared to 13 for the Titans.
 
The Hatters continue play on Thursday when they visit LSU. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern time.
