Hatters Host Lipscomb in ASUN Showdown

Stetson men's soccer host ASUN Conference foe in a rematch of last season's conference tournament championship game, 7 p.m., Saturday, at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand.
 
The league-leading Hatters (6-5-1 overall, 2-0-1 ASUN) enter Saturday tied with North Florida atop the conference standings. Stetson earned a 1-0 win last weekend at Liberty, as freshman Gio Rodriguez scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute.
 
A win on Saturday will not only solidify Stetson's hold on the top spot in the standings, but it will officially clinch a berth in next month's ASUN Tournament for the Hatters.
 
Lipscomb, meanwhile, is 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Bisons enter Saturday's game following an impressive 3-1 win over Georgia State.

Notable News: Stetson and Lipscomb will meet for the 19th time on Saturday … Stetson holds a 9-7-2 advantage in the series … the Bisons won twice against the Hatters last season, taking a 2-1 decision in the regular season and a 2-0 win in the ASUN title game … both contests were played in Nashville … Stetson leads the ASUN with four shutouts on the season, including two in ASUN play … freshman goalkeeper Lute Lillo-Portero is second in the conference with a 0.98 goals-against average .. Lipscomb keeper Michael Sibley is right behind at 1.05 … the goal by Gio Rodriguez against Lipscomb was the first career score for the freshman.
