Gennes Reaches Juan Varon Final

Stetson sophomore Tim Gennes advanced to the final of the Juan Varon Invitational at the Florida Tennis Center in rainy Daytona Beach, while the Hatters concluded their stay at the ITA Southeast Regional in Gainesville.

Gennes, with two victories so far in the Singles A draw, will face Juan Couder of ERAU in Sunday's final. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.

Fellow sophomore Dennis Moses also enjoyed a strong day, winning a pair of matches in the Singles C Consolation bracket.

Due to heavy rains in the Daytona Beach area, doubles play was washed out on Saturday but will resume on Sunday.

"I am happy for Tim, as he managed to turn around a difficult situation and come up on top at the end," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Managing your emotions is so crucial in college tennis, and he embraced the right mindset as his back was against the wall in the second set. Will need to build and improve upon that if he wants to give himself a chance to win the tournament tomorrow."

Antoine Sanchez saw his run at the ITA Southeast Regional in Gainesville come to an end with a straight set loss in the second round of the main draw.
