Hatters Win Streak Halted at FGCU

Eagles Win in Straight Sets

Fort Myers, Fla. -- FGCU cooled off the red-hot Hatters by virtue of a 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-14, 25-10) Friday night in an ASUN Conference match at Alico Arena.

The first-place Eagles (23-3, 11-1 ASUN) extended their win streak to 13 in a row while the Hatters (10-12, 7-5 ASUN) saw their win streak halted at eight.

"Unfortunately, I don't think we brought our top game," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said.  "You could see there were moments we tried to improve, but it just wasn't clicking this game.  I think it is a great learning moment for us.  How do you stay poised against a good team and be focused on your part and what you are supposed to do."

After posting a .426 attack percentage on Wednesday against Jacksonville, Stetson hit a season-low .019 for the match. Brianna Schmid and Riley Nieporte collected five kills each.  Chelcie Spence picked up 13 digs and Elena Djokovic had two solo blocks.

Cortney VanLiew posted 15 kills to lead the Eagles.

After playing four matches in the past eight days, the Hatters will be idle until hosting Kennesaw State on Nov. 10.
