Hatters Open Weekend Trip at Purdue Fort Wayne

After a successful first road trip, Stetson men's basketball is back on the road this weekend for the first of two games when the Hatters visit Purdue Fort Wayne, 7 p.m., Sunday, at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Stetson (2-0) will also visit No. 16 Ohio State, 8:30 p.m., Monday.

The Hatters enter Saturday's game riding a high note following a 77-75 win at Western Illinois last Saturday. Freshman Rob Perry led the Hatters with 34 points, scoring 25 in the second half as Stetson rallied from a 31-25 halftime deficit. Perry was named ASUN Newcomer of the Week for his performance.

The Mastodons (1-3) are coming off an 84-80 home loss to Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday.

About the Game
•This is the fifth meeting all-time between the schools, and all five have taken place since 2014. The Mastodons won each of the previous four meetings.
•If you don't recognize the name of Saturday's opponent, it's because Purdue Fort Wayne is the school's third different name since the Hatters first faced the Mastodons. The university was previously known athletically as both IPFW and Fort Wayne. The current name was adopted in 2018.
•This will mark the second straight weekend the Hatters have faced a Summit League program, after defeating Western Illinois last Saturday
•Stetson is 5-10 all-time against current Summit members. This is the sixth consecutive season in which Stetson has faced a Summit League foe. In addition to Purdue Fort Wayne and Western Illinois (2-0), Stetson has also faced North Dakota State (0-1) during that span.
•The Summit League also includes Denver (0-1), North Dakota, Omaha, Oral Roberts (4-4), South Dakota, and South Dakota State.
•A win on Saturday will give the Hatters back-to-back road victories for the first time since Nov. 2017, when the Hatters defeated FIU (70-64 on Nov. 12) and South Alabama (81-77 on Nov. 22).

Under the Hat
•The Hatters continue their early-season road odyssey this weekend as they begin play in the Ohio State Classic against Purdue Fort Wayne
•Stetson will visit Ohio State on Monday, and close play in the Classic on Nov. 30 at Kent State
•It's obviously early, but the Hatters enter the weekend leading the ASUN Conference in field-goal percentage (.509), 3-point field-goal percentage (.408), rebounding margin (+16.0), blocked shots per game (7.0), assists per game (16.0) and scoring defense (50.5)
•Stetson produced some eye-popping numbers in its 84-26 win over Trinity Baptist on Nov. 5:
-The Hatters limited the Eagles to 14.5 percent shooting from the field, the lowest for a Stetson opponent since Flagler shot 25.8 percent on Nov. 19, 2004. That mark is believed to be the lowest in the program's modern history (post-World War II). For context, the NCAA record for lowest single-game field-goal percentage is 13.3 percent by Dayton against Miami (Ohio), on Dec. 29, 2001.
-The 58-point margin of victory was the largest for the Hatters during the program's modern (post-World War II) era. Stetson has sponsored basketball since 1900.
-Trinity's 26 points were the fewest by a Stetson opponent since Tampa also scored 26 points against the Hatters on Feb. 8, 1946 (W, 47-26)
•The Hatters tied a school record with 11 blocked shots vs. Trinity Baptist. Four different players blocked at least 2 shots.
