Hatters Visit No. 16 Ohio State on Monday

Stetson faces its biggest challenge of the young season on Monday when the Hatters visit No. 16 Ohio State. Tip-off from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, is set for 8:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Big Ten Network.

The Hatters (2-1) will be looking to erase the memory of Saturday's 77-55 loss at Purdue Fort Wayne. Mahamadou Diawara led the Hatters with 15 points, while Rob Perry had 11 and Christiaan Jones chipped in 10.

Ohio State (3-0) is likely to move up several spots when the new AP poll is released just before tipoff after defeating No. 10 Villanova, 76-51, last Wednesday. Three players average double figures in points for the Buckeyes, led by D.J. Carton's 11 points per game.

About the Game
•This will be Stetson's first game against a Big Ten opponent since visiting Iowa on Dec. 5, 2016
•The Hatters are 0-3 all-time against Ohio State. Stetson's last visit o Columbus resulted in a 69-50 loss on Dec. 8, 1979.
•Overall, this is just the 13th game for Stetson against a Big Ten opponent. Stetson is 1-11 all-time against the Big Ten, with the lone win a 58-56 victory at Purdue on Nov. 24, 1990.
•Stetson freshman Jaret Griffith is the only Ohio native on the Hatters' roster. He hails from Huron, and graduated from Akron Coventry. Griffith also attended Western Reserve HS.
•Stetson is 2-38 all-time against Associated Press Top 25 opponents. The Hatters' last win against a nationally-ranked opponent was a 76-69 victory over West Virginia on Dec. 21, 1982 in DeLand.

Under The Hat
•Rob Perry scored 34 points against Western Illinois on Nov. 9, the most by a Stetson freshman since 1983
•Perry earned ASUN Newcomer of the Week for that performance, Stetson's first conference weekly award by a freshman since the 2017-18 season
•Fellow freshman Mahamadou Diawara has scored in double figures in each of his first three games
•Junior Christiaan Jones reached 500 career points in the win over Trinity Baptist
•Stetson produced some eye-popping numbers in its 84-26 win over Trinity Baptist on Nov. 5:
-The Hatters limited the Eagles to 14.5 percent shooting from the field, the lowest for a Stetson opponent since Flagler shot 25.8 percent on Nov. 19, 2004. That mark is believed to be the lowest in the program's modern history (post-World War II). For context, the NCAA record for lowest single-game field-goal percentage is 13.3 percent by Dayton against Miami (Ohio), on Dec. 29, 2001.
-The 58-point margin of victory was the largest for the Hatters during the program's modern (post-World War II) era. Stetson has sponsored basketball since 1900.
-Trinity's 26 points were the fewest by a Stetson opponent since Tampa also scored 26 points against the Hatters on Feb. 8, 1946 (W, 47-26)
•The Hatters tied a school record with 11 blocked shots vs. Trinity Baptist. Four different players blocked at least 2 shots.
