Hatters Sweep NJIT in Regular Season Finale

Stetson will face Lipscomb Thursday in the ASUN Quarterfinals

Newark, N.J. -- Stetson completed its regular season schedule with a 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-16) sweep over NJIT Sunday afternoon at the Wellness and Events Center.

The Hatters (12-14) finished ASUN play with a 9-7 record, marking their first winning season in the conference since 2002.  In addition, Stetson's nine ASUN victories tied a school record and the team's .563 conference winning percentage set a new program high-water mark.

Libero Chelcie Spence recorded 15 digs to surpass the 400-dig mark for the second year in a row.  She also moved into second place on Stetson's all-time digs list.  She now has 1295 digs, just 153 shy of Monique Russell's program-record mark of 1448.

Emily DeStaffino posted her 12th double-double of the season with a 38-assist, 12-dig performance.  Elena Djokovic led the offense with 13 kills and Riley Nieporte added 11.

The Hatters will be the No. 5 seed for the ASUN Championship and unofficially will face No. 4 seed Lipscomb in the quarterfinals Thursday night in Fort Myers, Fla.  Liberty and Lipscomb tied for third place in the league and the tie will not officially be broken until Monday's NCAA RPI report is published.

The Hatters and Bisons split the season series with each team winning on the road.

The winner will advance to Friday's semifinals to face top-seed FGCU.  The championship will be played Saturday.
