Hatter Trio Named ASUN All-Academic

Stetson seniors Finn Busmann, Chris Degance and Gabriel Diniz were voted to the ASUN Conference All-Academic Team for men's soccer, the league office announced on Thursday.

In voting by league Sports Information & Communications Directors, the trio is part of a 12-man team of the brightest student-athletes in ASUN men's soccer.

To qualify for the ASUN All-Academic team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be at least a sophomore athletically, and participate in at least 50 percent of their teams' contests.

Busmann is a Marketing major from Marburg, Germany. A team captain, Busmann carries a 3.91 GPA. In 16 games this season, Busmann has scored one goal and added an assist. He was also voted to the All-Academic team in 2017.

DeGance holds a 3.83 GPA in Finance. On the field, he leads the Hatters with three goals, including game-winning scores against Winthrop and Lipscomb. DeGance was also named All-Academic last season.

Diniz is also a Finance major, and sports a 3.71 grade-point average. This is his first selection to the All-Academic team. Diniz currently leads the Hatters and the ASUN with six assists, while playing in all 17 games.

This is the fifth consecutive year in which the Hatters have had at least two student-athletes voted to the All-Academic team. In all, Stetson has had 17 All-Academic selections since the award's inception in 2011.
