Beach, Davis Earn ASUN Weekly Awards

DeLand, Fla. -- Following a career-high 37-point performance Saturday afternoon vs. Kennesaw State, Stetson University senior McKenna Beach has been named the ASUN Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
 
Mackenzie Davis was also named ASUN Freshman of the Week for the second week in a row.
 
Beach's 37 points ranked as the fourth-highest single-game scoring total in school history and the most in the ASUN this season.  She was 10-for-16 from the floor and 15-for-16 from the free throw line.  She scored 12 fourth quarter points, including the go-ahead 3-point play with 2:40 to go, to help lead Stetson to a 76-69 victory.
 
Earlier in the week, Beach recorded a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds in Stetson's 79-63 win at Jacksonville. She scored six fourth quarter points, hitting the go-ahead 3-pointer with 4:59 to go.
 
For the week, Beach averaged 23.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 4.5 steals. She shot 52 percent from the floor and 43 percent from the arc, and she played all 80 minutes in the two games combined.
 
Davis, meanwhile, averaged 8.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals in the two Stetson victories.  She scored a season-high 13 points with five assists and three steals in win at Jacksonville.  Davis then recorded four points, three assists and four steals in Saturday's victory over Kennesaw State.  She now has 21 assists in her last four games.

It the second Player of the Week honor this season for Beach and the second Freshman of the Week Honor for Davis.  The Hatters have had eight weekly award winners this season.
 
Stetson (11-11, 6-2 ASUN) will visit Liberty (9-12, 5-3 ASUN) in a key conference matchup at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
