Hatters Knock Off No. 12 LMU During Wednesday Split

Ingram and Birker win twice

Long Beach, Calif. -- No. 15 Stetson earned its second Top 20 victory of the season with a 4-1 win over No. 12 Loyola Marymount Wednesday afternoon at the LBSU Sand Courts. The Hatters fell 4-1 to No. 8 Long Beach State earlier in the day.

On a wet and chilly afternoon on the west coast, Stetson got two wins from Rebecca Ingram and Quinci Birker at the 5 seed. The sophomore pair won 21-9, 21-13 against Long Beach State and 16-21, 22-20, 15-9 against Loyola Marymount.

The Hatters also got 2-0 wins against LMU from 1 seed Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales, 2 seed Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas, and 3 seed Ana Costa and Rachel Noble.

Yasmin Kuck and Alexa Richardson also won twice at the 6 seed.

The Hatters ranked win over LMU follows a 5-0 victory over No. 13 Georgia State earlier this season.

Stetson will return to action Thursday in Los Angeles against Long Beach State and No. 2 Southern Cal. The Trojans are two-time NCAA national champions.
