Noble Breaks Wins Record as Hatters Sweep Mercer

Stetson Wins ASUN South Division

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson completed a perfect ASUN regular season for the third year in a row by sweeping Mercer 5-0 and 5-0 in a double dual Wednesday afternoon at the Cooper Beach Courts.

With the victories, the 10th-ranked Hatters (22-8, 8-0 ASUN) won the ASUN South Division and clinched a berth in next week's ASUN Championship.

Senior Rachel Noble became the program's all-time wins leader with her 89th career victory in the first match of the day.  She surpassed former teammate Kristin Lind's mark of 88 wins.

Stetson won 20 of 21 sets in the two duals.  At the 3 seed, Noble and Ana Costa held their opponent to just 13 points in the second match of the day (21-6, 21-7).

The only match to go three sets was at the 4 seed where Alexa Richardson and Yasmin Kuck rallied for a 2-1 win.  The pair dropped the first set 21-16, won the second set 21-10, then finished the third set on a 6-0 run to win 15-12.

The Hatters have now won 34 straight matches against ASUN opponents, including all eight so far this season.  Three Hatter pairs - Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales at the 1 seed, Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas at the 2 seed, and Quinci Birker and Rebecca Ingram at the 5 seed - went a perfect 8-0 in the regular season.

The Hatters will find out Sunday what seed they will be for the ASUN Championship, April 18-20 in DeLand.  On Friday, Stetson will travel to Boca Raton to face No. 17 FAU twice and No. 8 FIU.
