Hatters Square Off With FAU and FIU on Friday

Having completed a perfect 8-0 run through the ASUN regular season schedule, the Stetson Hatters will delve back into nonconference play Friday at the Beach Bash in Paradise in Boca Raton, Fla.

No. 10 Stetson (23-8) will begin the day facing No. 17 FAU (11-11) at 8 a.m.  After a short break, the Hatters will play No. 8 FIU (14-9) at Noon before squaring off one more time with FAU at 2 p.m.  The three matches will be played at the FAU Beach Volleyball Complex and live scoring will be available at FAUSports.com.

The Hatters are 2-0 against the Owls this season and 0-2 against the Panthers. Stetson could bolster its NCAA postseason resume with a strong performance Friday.

Second-Most Wins
As of Thursday, the Hatters own the second-highest win total in the NCAA with 23 victories.  UCLA leads with 26 wins, while LSU (21), USC (20) and FSU (20) have all topped the 20-win mark.

Division Winner
The Hatters have won the ASUN South Division and will find out Sunday if they have earned the No. 1 seed for the ASUN Championship, April 18-20 in DeLand.  If the Hatters are awarded the No. 1 seed, it will also mark their fifth straight ASUN regular season championship.

Perfect Pairs
Not only did the Hatters go 8-0 in ASUN play, winning 36 of 40 individual matches, but three seeds went a perfect 8-0 as well: Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales at the 1 seed, Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas at the 2 seed, and Quinci Birker and Rebecca Ingram at the 5 seed. 

In the Polls
For the fourth week in a row, Stetson is ranked 10th in the nation in this week's AVCA Coaches Poll. It is the 44th consecutive appearance by the Hatters in the AVCA poll.  The Hatters have climbed seven spots since opening the season at No. 17. Stetson is also ranked 11th in the DiG Magazine Poll.

Against the Top 20
Stetson has eight wins against Top 20 teams this season, including a pair of wins against Top 10 foes.  Four of Stetson's wins have come against teams ranked higher in the polls, including a 3-2 win over No. 8 Long Beach State on March 7.  That victory marked the second-highest ranked opponent Stetson has defeated all-time (#5 Georgia State).  The Hatters have also defeated No. 10 South Carolina, No. 12 Loyola Marymount, No. 13 Georgia State, No. 15 Arizona, No. 16 FAU (twice), and No. 18 Georgia State this season.

National Pair of the Week
Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales were named AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com National Pair of the Week on March 19 after going 4-0 at the Gamecock Grand Slam.  

ASUN Pairs of the Week
Stetson has had five ASUN Pair of the Week selections this season. Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales were honored on Feb. 26 and March 19, Sammee Thomas and Darby Dunn were tabbed on March 26 and April 2, and Rebecca Ingram and Quinci Birker were selected on March 12.

New Record-Holder
On April 10, senior Rachel Noble broke the school record for most wins with her 89th career victory.  She surpassed former teammate Kristin Lind's mark of 88 wins.  Noble is now 90-42 in her fourth season with the program.
