Cole Selected for USRowing National Team Camps

Stetson sophomore Campbell Cole has been chosen by USRowing to participate at the 2019 Under-23 Men's and Women's National Team Selection Camps, the organization announced last week.

Cole has been selected to participate in the Lightweight Camp in Princeton, N.J., where he will train throughout the summer. The camp will select the lightweight men's quadruple sculls crew that will race at the 2019 World Rowing Under-23 Championships, July 24-28, in Sarasota, Fla.

"We are proud of Campbell and what he is continuing to accomplish," Stetson assistant coach Ethan Shoemaker said. "On his first day at Stetson he informed us of his wish to race at the World Championships. We have been working with him since that day to put together a plan to help him succeed, and nearly two years later he is getting ready to take a big step towards his goal. We are excited for Campbell in this next challenge. We will certainly be supporting him wherever we can every step of the way."

Though only a sophomore, Cole has enjoyed strong success in his time at Stetson. Earlier this month he won gold in the men's 1x at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships, and also sat in the stroke seat of the MV4+ last year that earned Stetson's first Dad Vail Regatta medal, and holds the school record for the 2K time trial on the ergometer for a lightweight. Last summer, Cole won a pair of gold medals at the Philadelphia Independence Day Regatta while rowing for Vesper Boat Club.

This weekend, Cole and the Hatters are scheduled to participate in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
