Hatters Land Grad Transfer Chance McSpadden

Chance McSpadden, formerly a key contributor at UCF, has officially signed to continue his collegiate career at Stetson, Hatters head coach Donnie Jones announced today.

Originally recruited to UCF when Jones was the Knights' head coach, McSpadden, a 6-4 guard from Winter Haven, Fla., will be joining the Hatters as a graduate transfer and will be eligible immediately.

"Chance is unique because I recruited him once before," Jones said. "He brings experience, leadership, and knowledge of a culture that he's already been a part of at UCF. He's a great young man with a great work ethic. Any time you can bring in an individual that can act as an extension of you on the floor, it brings great value to your program, and Chance brings that. He knows what it looked like before, and he gives us an instant leader in the locker room."

McSpadden spent four seasons at UCF, enjoying highly productive campaigns during the 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons.

As a freshman in '15-16, McSpadden appeared in all 30 games for UCF, averaging 5.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 21 points against the Hatters on Dec. 2, 2015.

After missing the 2016-17 season with injuries, McSpadden rebounded the next season to average 5.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 18 games.

At Winter Haven High, McSpadden earned first team all-county honors after averaging 24.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a senior, leading the Blue Devils to the 6A Regional semifinals.

McSpadden is Stetson's fourth signee this spring, joining Jaret Griffith (Huron, Ohio/Akron Coventry), Terry Ivery (The Villages, Fla/The Villages Charter), and Rob Perry (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge HS/4A Sports Academy) as new Hatters.
