Hatters Win Heat to Reach Semifinals at IRA Championships

Stetson men's rowing took another step on their historic journey this weekend as the Hatters won their opening heat in Varsity 4+ at the IRA Championships on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif.

Stetson's team of of Walter Klein (coxswain), Nick Hall, JT Lamon, Xavier Mulligan and Zachary Ewing bested a strong field in their heat on Friday. Rowing in the same heat as Cornell, Georgetown, Jacksonville and Northeastern, the Hatters came out on top, guaranteeing themselves a spot in one of the two Sunday finals in Stetson's first-ever appearance at the IRA Championships.

Stetson is the top seed in its semifinal, along with other top seeds Cal, Princeton and Washington , as each school won their respective heats. In order to reach Sunday's Grand Final, the Hatters will need to finish at least third in their semifinal.
