DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria announced the hiring Thursday of Tim Sylver as an assistant coach.
A Florida native and University of South Florida graduate, Sylver joins the Hatters after spending five years as the video coordinator for the USF women's basketball program.
"Coming from South Florida and working for Coach Fernandez, Tim has been prepared in every facet of the game," Bria said. "I think he has a lot of knowledge, he obviously has a strong video background and he has contacts throughout the state. I really think he is going to bring a lot of energy to our staff and to our team."
While at USF, Sylver managed all aspects of the team's video requirements, including developing player film sessions, breaking down opponent game film, creating scouts, analyzing recruit videos and editing USF highlight packages.
Sylver also oversaw the program's community service efforts, helping USF student-athletes log over 100 service hours in the 2018-19 academic year. He was also the team's liaison for Enhancing U, a program that helped USF students prepare for their future after college.Â
In addition, Sylver was responsible for hiring and training student managers and overseeing the practice squad. He helped organize and operating Jose Fernandez's Coaches Clinic and other team camps.
"I am extremely honored and blessed for the opportunity to join the Hatters' staff," Sylver said. "I am excited to be a part of a tremendous group of coaches and student-athletes, and I look forward to getting to work on winning an ASUN Championship."
In addition to his time with the USF women's program, Sylver also spent one season as the video coordinator for the USF men's basketball team.
Sylver graduated from USF with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication in 2013. He also served as a student assistant with the women's basketball program for four seasons, rising to the level of head student manager. He holds an Associate's Degree from Edison State College and graduated from Charlotte High School in 2008.
