Hatters Unveil 2019-20 Basketball Schedule

Fourteen home games and road contests at Ohio State and South Carolina highlight the 2019-20 Stetson men's basketball schedule, the first under new head coach Donnie Jones.

In addition to games against the Buckeyes and Gamecocks, the Hatters will face a total of eight teams who participated in the post-season a year ago, including three NCAA Tournament squads.

The schedule will provide several tough challenges for the young Hatters.

"We will have some great opportunities against some outstanding teams to be able to grow our young guys," Jones said. "We have a lot of young players coming in playing in their first college games, and they'll be going into some tough atmospheres. We are excited to see how this schedule helps our young guys develop as we head into the conference season."

After playing an exhibition game at Edmunds Center on Nov. 1, the Hatters and Jones begin a new era when they open the regular season by hosting Trinity Baptist on Nov. 5.

Five straight road games follow the season opener. The Hatters visit Western Illinois on Nov. 9, then travel to Purdue-Fort Wayne (Nov. 16) and Ohio State (Nov. 18) for the first of three games in the Ohio State Classic.

A return to the Sunshine State is up next as the Hatters face both Iona (Nov. 22) and Monmouth (Nov. 23) in the ASUN/MAAC Challenge at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista.

It's a quick turnaround for their next game as the Hatters return home on Nov. 24 against Western Carolina, and welcome Florida College on Nov. 26.

Stetson closes out Ohio State Classic play when they visit Kent State (Nov. 30), before playing three of their next five games at home against Bethune-Cookman (Dec. 3), Longwood (Dec. 15) and FIU (Dec. 22). In the in-between time, Stetson visits VMI (Dec. 7) and UNC Asheville (Dec. 17).

The Hatters close out 2019 at South Carolina (Dec. 30).

ASUN Conference play begins Jan. 2 when the Hatters host regular season champion and NIT runner-up Lipscomb in the first of 16 league games. Remaining home conference games include FGCU (Jan. 11), NJIT (Jan. 23), Liberty (Jan. 25), North Alabama (Feb. 13), Kennesaw State (Feb. 15), North Florida (Feb. 27) and Jacksonville (Feb. 29).

Conference road games include clashes with Kennesaw State (Jan. 4), North Alabama (Jan. 16), Jacksonville (Jan. 18), North Florida (Jan. 30), Lipscomb (Feb. 1), FGCU (Feb. 6), NJIT (Feb. 20) and Liberty (Feb. 22).
