Hatters Open ASUN Schedule at NJIT

Stetson women's soccer opens ASUN Conference play on Thursday when the Hatters visit NJIT, 2 p.m., Thursday in Newark, N.J.

The Hatters (2-6-1) enter play against the Highlanders (3-3-2) looking for their first win in five games. Stetson was 0-1-1 last week, with a 2-2 draw against Embry-Riddle and a 3-2 loss on Sunday to Illinois State.

Through the season's first nine games, freshman Maggie Struble leads the Hatters and ranks tied for third in the ASUN with six goals. Struble had a pair of scores in Sunday's loss to the Redbirds.

The Highlanders are also 0-1-1 in their last two games. Three different players have scored two goals apiece for this season for NJIT. Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Saylor has a 0.80 goals-against average.

About the Game: Stetson and NJIT will meet for the fifth time on Thursday, with the Hatters holding a 3-1 advantage in the series … Stetson's only ASUN win in 2018 was a 4-2 victory against the Highlanders, though that game was in DeLand … after getting shutout in consecutive games the week before, Stetson's offense produced four goals in two games last week … Stetson is 83-111-20 all-time in ASUN regular-season play … after Thursday's game the Hatters won't play again until Oct. 3 against Jacksonville.
