Hatters Visit Jacksonville on Saturday

Stetson men's basketball renews one of its oldest rivalries when the Hatters visit ASUN Conference foe Jacksonville, 6 p.m., Saturday at Swisher Gym on the JU campus.

Stetson (8-11, 2-2) is looking for a weekend road sweep after securing a 54-49 win on Thursday at North Alabama. Rob Perry led the offense with 18 points, and the Stetson defense turned in arguably its best defensive effort of the year after limiting the Lions to 13 points in the first half and a 3 for 21 effort from beyond the 3-point arc.

Jacksonville (8-11, 1-3) sustained a 75-68 home loss to intra-city rival North Florida on Thursday. David Bell had 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Dolphins.

Game Notes
•Saturday's game is the 90th meeting between the teams, with Jacksonville holding a 54-35 advantage in the series. The series first began in 1958.
•The Dolphins have won eight straight games in the series. Stetson hasn't won in Swisher Gym since 2006.
•The Hatters have won their last three road games, their longest streak since January of 2013. A win on Saturday would give Stetson its longest road winning streak since 2006 when the Hatters won six in a row away from home.

Under the Hat
•After failing to win a single game away from home during the 2018-19 season, the Hatters are an impressive 5-6 in games played on the road or at neutral sites this season. Stetson is 2-0 in ASUN road games, and enters Saturday's game at Jacksonville winners of three straight on the road.
•The Hatters last won three straight road games in January of 2013, and haven't won four in a row away from home since the 2005-06 team won six straight late in the season
•Rob Perry (15.7) and Mahamadou Diawara (12.9) continue to be the highest-scoring freshman tandem in the ASUN Conference at a combined 28.6 points per game. Perry is 8th nationally among all freshmen, and his 34 points at Western Illinois on Nov. 9 is the 2nd-best single-game effort by a freshman this season.
•Perry and Diawara also rank 1-2 on the Hatters in both scoring and rebounding (6.8 per game for Diawara, 5.1 for Perry).
•The Hatters made some history on Dec. 17 when five freshmen (Diawara, Ivery, Kabimba, Panzo, Perry) were in the starting lineup at UNC Asheville, for what's believed to be the first time in program history. The Hatters regularly started four freshmen during the 2010-11 season but research has not yet turned up another all-freshman starting five.
