Stetson Set to Host 33rd Annual Hatter Classic

Preview
The Stetson women's basketball team will host the 33rd Annual Hatter Classic this weekend at the Edmunds Center. Stetson and UAB will square off at 11 a.m. Friday with live coverage on ESPN+. UAB and Abilene Christian will tip-off at 1 p.m. Saturday (no live stream). Stetson will host Abilene Christian at 11 a.m. Sunday on ESPN+.

All-Time Series
The Blazers lead the all-time series 2-0 over the Hatters. The teams will be meeting for the first time since 2008. Stetson and Abilene Christian will be meeting for the first time.

About the Opponent
UAB is 3-1 on the season with victories over Edward Waters, Chattanooga, and Grambling State. Margaret Whitley leads the Blazers in scoring (23.8 ppg).

Last Time Out
A 22-4 run midway through the third quarter propelled Stetson to a 75-52 victory over Florida Memorial Tuesday afternoon at the Edmunds Center. Yazz Wazeerud-Din led four Hatters in double figures with 13 points and Day'Neshia Banks registered a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Tippy Robertson recorded 12 points while Jamiya Turner chipped in 10. The Hatters improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 at home.

Double-Doubles
With her 10-point, 10-rebound performance vs. Florida Memorial, Day'Neshia Banks recorded her 14th career double-double. She ranks fourth for the most career double-doubles in the Lynn Bria era, just behind Amber Porter (17), Sarah Sagerer (16), and Victoria McGowan (15).

Career Game
Making her second career start, sophomore Shania Edgecombe posted career-highs in points (8), rebounds (5), and blocks (5) on Tuesday vs. Florida Memorial. Four of her blocks came in the first half alone.

Jamiya Turner leads the ASUN and ranks 25th in the NCAA in offensive rebounding (4.3).
Yazz Wazeerud-Din leads the ASUN and ranks 32nd in the NCAA in steals/game (3.3).
