Hatters Face Florida on Sunday

After playing in Miami on Friday night, it's a quick turnaround for the Stetson Hatters as they face Florida, 2 p.m., Sunday, in Gainesville. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.

The Hatters (0-2) continued their tough start to the season with an 82-60 loss to the Hurricanes on Friday. Chase Johnston led the Hatters with 19 points, while Mahamadou Diawara added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Freshman guard Stephan Swenson had 8 assists and zero turnovers in his 25 minutes of play.

Florida (2-0) is perfect after opening the season with victories against Army and Boston College. Keyontae Johnson leads the Gators in scoring at 20 points per game.

Sunday's game marks the return to Gainesville of former Florida assistant coach and current Hatters' boss Donnie Jones. Jones was an assistant at Florida under Billy Donovan from 1996-2007, helping the Gators win National Championships in both 2006 and 2007. Since leaving Gainesville, Jones has faced the Gators twice and is 1-1, with both games coming in his time at UCF.

Under the Hat
•This will be Stetson's first game at Florida since Nov. 28, 2011. The Gators won, 96-70, and have won the last 17 meetings between the teams.
•Sunday's game was not on the original season schedule for either team. After the Hatters lost games with both FIU and Bethune-Cookman, and Florida was forced to cancel its first three games, the Hatters and Gators quickly agreed to their first meeting in nine years.
•Freshman point guard Stephan Swenson was one of the few bright spots for the Hatters on Friday at Miami, dishing 8 assists without a turnover in 25 minutes off the bench. It was the most assists by a Stetson freshman since Divine Myles also had 8 against Lipscomb on Jan. 31, 2015.
