Perry Nabs Fourth ASUN Newcomer of the Week Nod

Stetson's Rob Perry collected his fourth ASUN Conference Newcomer of the Week honor after a record-setting performance last week, the league office announced on Monday.
 
In Stetson's only game last week, the freshman guard from Orlando scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in Stetson's 65-62 win at FGCU. The win was Stetson's first against the Eagles in Fort Myers since 2012 and also snapped a 10-game road losing streak to FGCU.
 
As part of his offensive output, Perry made what proved to be the decisive free throws with 12 seconds remaining to seal the win.
 
Perry was 6 of 12 from the field against FGCU, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range. In the process, he set a new Stetson record for most 3-pointers by a freshman with 62.
 
For the season, Perry is averaging 16.2 points per game, which tops the Hatters and ranks third in the ASUN. He also leads the conference in 3-point field-goal percentage (.466).
 
The Hatters (13-12 overall, 7-3 ASUN) clinched a spot in the ASUN Tournament over the weekend and are currently one-and-a-half games behind ASUN co-leaders Liberty and North Florida. Stetson next hosts North Alabama, 7 p.m., Thursday, at Edmunds Center. For tickets, call (386) 738-HATS.
