Hatter History: Softball's 28-Game Win Streak

In 2002, the Stetson softball team played its home games at the Sperling Sports Complex.  It was there that the Hatters began a historic streak.

On Feb. 16, Stetson swept a doubleheader from Webber International, beginning a run of 28 consecutive victories.  The Hatters also went 4-0 at a tournament at the College of Charleston, swept Belmont in a doubleheader in Nashville to start ASUN play, and won 17 straight at home.

During the streak, Stetson broke the school record (12) and the conference record (21) for consecutive wins.

On March 24, the Hatters defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay for their 28th straight win.  The streak ended later that day with a 2-1 extra-inning loss to Towson.  The streak spanned 36 days.

At the time, Stetson's run tied for the 14th-longest winning streak in NCAA history.  Today, it still stands as the school and ASUN record and is tied for the 27th-longest winning streak in NCAA history.

- The Hatters hit .363 as a team with 15 home runs
- All nine starters batted .300 or better
- The pitching staff combined to go 28-0 with a 0.56 ERA and 14 shutouts
- Led to Stetson earning its first-ever Top 25 votes in the NFCA Coaches poll
