Hatters return home to face Jacksonville

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's soccer team returns home for ASUN Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 2 as the Hatters host the Jacksonville University Dolphins at the ATC. Admission is $5.00 or free with a Stetson University ID.

Recap
Stetson comes off its second-straight overtime win as the Hatters downed the Georgia Southern Eagles 1-0 in double overtime on Tuesday night behind a golden goal from freshman Nelson Pereira

Graduate transfer goalkeeper Jacob Gruber was 7-for-7 in save opportunities, with his biggest coming in the 34' on an Eagles penalty kick, keeping the match scoreless.

Scouting the Dolphins
The Dolphins come into Saturday's match at 2-6 overall and 1-1 in ASUN action. JU comes off a 1-0 win over ASUN opponent North Florida back on Sept. 25 but were then shutout 3-0 against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 28.

Reed Davis leads the Dolphins offense in goals (3) and points (6) while Jose Manzo leads the team in assists with two. Jabari Gray has seen the most time out of the three JU goalkeepers as he has a 1-4 record with a .519 save percentage and one shutout on the year.

All-Time Series
The Hatters are 26-40-11 in the all-time series with the Dolphins dating all the way back to 1957. JU took both meetings, 3-0, between the ASUN foes during the COVID-shortened season in the spring.

Hatters Notes
Oliver Bryneus continues to lead the Hatters offense as the junior has five goals and 11 points on the season while Pereira has four goals and two assists for 10 total points. Bryneus's five goals are tied for 26th in the country for total goals scored. As a team, the Hatters are tied for 23rd in the country with 19 total goals.

Looking Ahead
After Stetson hosts Jacksonville on Saturday, the Hatters head to Macon, Ga. for a non-conference match with the Mercer University Bears on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
