Hatters head to Kennesaw State for battle with the Owls

Kennesaw, Ga. -- The Stetson University women's soccer team hits the road for another ASUN Conference Eastern Division matchup as the Hatters travel to Kennesaw, Georgia on Thursday, Oct. 14 to face the Kennesaw State Owls at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
 
Recap
Stetson comes into Thursday's match with a 5-8-2 overall record and 2-3-1 in ASUN Conference action. The Hatters went 0-1-1 last week after playing a tough North Florida team to a scoreless draw with two overtime periods back on Thursday, Oct. 7. Hatters keeper Sarah Grimmett was 5-for-5 in save opportunities on the night. Then, on Oct. 10, the Hatters fell at Liberty University 3-1. Jackie Fiacco scored Stetson's lone goal. 
 
Scouting the Owls
Kennesaw State enters Thursday's match against the Hatters with a 6-6-1 overall record and 3-2-1 in ASUN play. Last week, Kennesaw went 1-0-1 in its two matches as the Owls topped FGCU 2-1 back on Oct. 7 and then played Jacksonville to a 1-1 draw. 
 
Ebony Clarke leads the Owls with five goals and 10 points on the year while Kendall Higgs has four and Macie Rainwater has three. Kathryn Schreck and Tianna Rivera have been the Owls play makers as Schreck leads Kennesaw with four assists and Rivera is tied with Jenna Vollrath with three. 
 
All-Time Series
Thursday's match will be the 17th all-time meeting between the ASUN foes as the Hatters are 5-9-2 against the Owls. The last meeting between the two schools was back on Oct. 6, 2019 as Kennesaw State topped Stetson 3-0. The Hatters look to end a two-match losing streak to the Owls Thursday night. 
 
Hatters Notes
Fiacco leads the Hatters with four goals and nine total points on the year. Kyleigh Thelen has two goals and two assists while Lea Alexander has a goal and three assists for Stetson. Grimmett comes into Thursday's action with an .844 save percentage and three shutouts on the year. 
 
Looking Ahead
After the Hatters travel to Kennesaw, Stetson comes home to take on Jacksonville on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m as the program celebrates Senior Day. Stetson then rounds out its regular season on the road on Oct. 23 as the Hatters travel to FGCU. Kickoff for that match is set for 7 p.m.
