Hatters get set to host North Florida in pivotal ASUN match

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's soccer team gets set to continue its three-match homestand as the Hatters host University of North Florida on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the ATC. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Admission is $5.00 or free with a Stetson University ID.

Recap
Stetson extended its win streak to five in a row Tuesday night as the Hatters shutout Florida Atlantic 1-0 behind Lewis Scattergood's second goal of the year. Before defeating FAU, Stetson took down Central Arkansas 2-1 behind a two-goal performance from Nelson Pereira, the reigning men's soccer ASUN player of the week.

Scouting the Ospreys
North Florida enters Saturday night's matchup with a 3-5-1 overall record and 1-3-0 in ASUN Conference action. The Ospreys are 1-1 in their last two contests as UNF fell to Bellarmine 2-1 in overtime on Oct. 2 but rebounded and defeated Lipscomb 2-0 on Oct. 9.

Joaquin Acuna leads the Ospreys with four goals and eight total points on the season. Jovoney Brown and Benedguz Burka each have a pair of goals for UNF. The Ospreys goalkeepers, Padraic Gilley and Carlos Melendez have split time between the pipes for UNF as Gilley has a .550 save percentage in five matches and Melendez's save percentage is .563 in four matches.

All-Time Series
Entering Saturday's match, the Hatters hold an 11-6-1 record over the Ospreys in their previous 18 meetings. The last time Stetson and UNF met was back on March 27 as the Ospreys topped the Hatters 1-0. Stetson looks to get back in the win column against UNF and extend its win streak to six in a row.

Hatters Notes
Pereira comes off a two-score performance that garnered him the ASUN player of the week award. His second goal against UCA was his conference-leading sixth goal and 13th and 14th point to take the top spot in the overall points as well. Oliver Bryneus is second on the Hatters and in the conference with five goals. Jacob Gruber's 1.36 goals against average is fourth in the ASUN and Owen Jack's eight goals allowed is tied for fourth fewest.

Looking Ahead
After Saturday's bout with the Ospreys, Stetson sits idle for a week as the Hatters host Bellarmine on Oct. 23 for their final regular season home contest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
