Killen, Ala. – The Stetson men's golf team will play in its second tournament in as many weeks when the Hatters open play Monday morning in the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational at the Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.
It is the second time the Stetson men have played in the tournament, which is hosted by ASUN rival North Alabama. The Hatters finished ninth in the tournament in October of 2018.
The squad that will take to the Robert Trent Jones, Sr., designed course along the banks of the Tennessee River will be completely different from the one that played there just three years ago. First-year coach
Danny Forshey will have two redshirt sophomores, a redshirt freshman and two true freshmen, including a new walk-on to the squad, competing on the 7,133-yard, par 72 course.
The event will include 36 holes of competition on Monday with a final 18 holes of play on Tuesday.
The five members of the Stetson team who will compete in the tournament are redshirt sophomores
Mason Quagliata and
Bradley Goldstein, redshirt freshman
Truman Keppy and true freshmen
Ian Ball and
Cooper Brown. Brown is a native of Longwood, Fla., and a product of Lake Brantley High, who recently walked-on to the team after a tryout.
Quagliata leads the Hatters so far this year, having posted a 74.5 stroke average over the first two events of the year. Goldstein (74.67), Keppy (74.83) and Ball (75.83) are not far behind.
The rest of the field for this tournament includes the host team from North Alabama, UT-Martin, Valparaiso, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Illinois, Murray State, Alabama A&M, Rollins College, Texas Southern and Chicago State.
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on Golfstat.com.
