Hatters Falter Late in 3-1 Loss to Lipscomb

Alejandra Perez records career dig No. 750

Jacksonville, Fla. -- Stetson won the opening set, but Lipscomb took the next three to come away with a 3-1 victory over the Hatters Saturday morning at UNF Arena.

The Bisons (10-10, 7-3 ASUN) won by scores of 23-25, 26-24, 25-18 and 25-12.

The Hatters (10-12, 5-5 ASUN) battled to a nice opening set win after breaking open a 15-15 tie with a 4-0 run.  In the second set, Stetson had one set point opportunity to move ahead 2-0 in the match, but Lipscomb came out of a timeout with three straight points to pull even at the break.

Then, after hitting .234 through the first two sets, Stetson hit -.046 over the final two sets as the Bisons pulled away.

Elena Djokovic (13 kills) and Anabelle Standish (11 kills) combined for 24 kills to lead the Hatters.  Nyah Molina notched her 15th double-double of the season, recording 36 assists and 12 digs.

Alejandra Perez led the defense with 16 digs, including her 750th career tally.  Lindsey Leipold added a career-high 14 digs.

Stetson recorded 12 blocks as a team and received three solo blocks and two assists each from Kaylee Oscarson and Djokovic.

Meg Mersman led Lipscomb with 17 kills.

Stetson will wrap up crossover weekend at 11 a.m. Sunday vs. Bellarmine.
