Hatters Drop Five-Set Marathon at Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Fla. -- In a five-set marathon match that featured extra points in the second, third and fourth sets, Jacksonville outlasted Stetson 3-2 in an ASUN contest Wednesday night at Swisher Gym.

The Dolphins (3-11, 1-9 ASUN) staved off three match points in the fourth set before taking control in the fifth set. Overall, Jacksonville won by scores of 25-20, 24-26, 24-26, 27-25, 15-9 to avoid a season sweep by Stetson (5-6, 4-6 ASUN).

Freshman Anabelle Standish led three Hatters in double figures with a career-high 14 kills.  She added eight digs and three blocks.  Kaylee Oscarson netted season-highs of 13 kills and five blocks, while Alexis Thompson registered 11 kills, six blocks, and three aces.

Naina Ivanova recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 47 assists and a season-high 17 digs.  Chelcie Spence (23 digs) topped the 20-dig mark for the seventh time this season.  Alejandra Perez added nine kills and 13 digs.

Sydney Bolding led the Dolphins with 21 kills.

The match featured 24 ties and 13 lead changes.

The Hatters will conclude the regular season with a pair of matches this weekend at UNF.  Stetson has already clinched the No. 3 seed for the ASUN South Division.
