Hatters Sweep Day 1 at Coastal

Stetson Rallies to Defeat CCU

Conway, S.C. -- Stetson rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Coastal Carolina 3-2 Friday morning at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The 16th-ranked Hatters then defeated the College of Charleston 4-1 to complete a Day 1 sweep and improve to 3-3 on the season.

The Hatters got 2-0 wins from each of their top three pairs. Ana Costa and Carly Perales won 24-22, 21-18 and 21-14, 22-20 at Pair 1, Kamryn Johnson and Shae Henson won 21-8, 21-18 and 21-11, 21-10 at Pair 2, and Yasmin Kuck and Gabriella Bramante won 21-13, 21-17 and 21-8, 21-10 at Pair 3. Kuck and Bramante had the clincher on Court 3 against the Chanticleers after Coastal had built a 2-0 lead. It was Stetson's 38th consecutive win against an ASUN opponent.

Stetson also got a 21-13, 21-15 win from Madison Bobes and Brittany McLean at Pair 5 against the Cougars.

The Hatters will get a rematch with No. 13 South Carolina at 8 a.m. Saturday, along with a noon match-up with UNCW. Stetson is competing in its first road tournament of the season.
