Hatters Edged 3-2 by FAU on Friday

Tallahassee, Fla. -- No. 13 FAU won a 15-11 third-set decision on court 3 to squeak past No. 17 Stetson 3-2 Friday evening at the FSU Beach Volleyball Complex.

After a 4.5-hour weather delay to begin the FSU Unconquered Invitational, the Owls (13-7) won on courts 3, 4 and 5 to improve to 3-0 against the Hatters (16-10) this season. All three duals have been decided by 3-2 scores.

Down 0-2 in Friday's dual, Stetson rallied with wins on courts 1 and 2. Ana Costa and Carly Perales defeated Erica Brok and Campbell Atkins 21-11, 21-19 on court 1, and Kamryn Johnson and Shae Henson defeated Kenley Adams and Ellie Austin 21-15, 15-21, 15-12 on court 2.

Costa and Perales extended their win streak at pair 1 to seven in a row as they improved to 20-6 on the season. Nine of those wins have come against ranked opponents. Perales becomes just the fourth player in school history to record three 20-win seasons, behind Kristin Lind, Darby Dunn and Rachel Noble.

The Hatters' second match vs. FSU was canceled due to weather, but the Hatters will face Coastal Carolina at 11:30 am and No. 3 FSU at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
