Hatters Open ASUN Tournament at Jacksonville

Stetson men's soccer begins the road toward the ASUN Championship this weekend as they face JU for the third time this season, 6 p.m. Saturday in Jacksonville. The match can be seen live on ESPN+.

The two teams played twice in three weeks during the regular season. Jacksonville defeated Stetson by scores of 3-0 and 2-0. The Hatters outshot the Dolphins 19-13 between the two matches but were held scoreless.

The Hatters (1-4-2, 1-3-2) enter the tournament with some momentum after winning their final game of the regular season. With goals from Ben Alram and Alex Turner, Stetson defeated FGCU, 2-1, on April 2 in Fort Myers.

The Dolphins (4-4-1, 4-2-1), meanwhile, enter the tournament with wins in four of their past six matches. They finished atop the ASUN's South division with a league record of 4-2-1.

Stetson allowed only nine goals in the regular season, the fourth-best mark in the ASUN. The Hatters fired 10.1 shots per game, just outside the top three in the conference.

The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the ASUN semifinals. Should the Hatters advance, they would take on Bellarmine on Thursday, April 15.  The ASUN Championship will be played on April 17.
