Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Stetson University junior
Ryan Peters was one of more than 150 collegiate golfers from across the country to open play this morning at the PGA Works Collegiate Championship.
The event, which is being played at the famous TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course, is open to collegiate teams and players from around the country from HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Institutions as well from programs that serve other ethnic minority groups. In addition, individual players who are from ethnic minority groups are also eligible to compete.
Peters, who is a native of Port of Spain, Trinidad, is an Applied Mathematics major at Stetson with a 3.68 cumulative GPA. He has played in three events for Stetson over the past three years, including two this spring. He posted a 79.17 scoring average during the recently completed season.
He is a member of the national team for Trinidad and Tobago.
The PGA Works Collegiate Championship will run through Wednesday and includes Men's Division I (9 teams) and Men's Division II (6 teams) team championships, a women's team championship (8 teams) as well as individual titles for both men (19 players) and women (26 players).
The tournament will receive coverage on the Golf Channel with hourly updates each afternoon.
