Hatters kickoff 2021 season at FIU

Miami, Fla. – The Stetson University women's soccer team opens its 2021-22 season on the road Thursday evening as the Hatters travel to Miami to take on the Panthers of Florida International University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
 
After experiencing a shortened season in the spring due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Hatters are excited to have a full slate of matches on the schedule for the fall season. 
 
Stetson comes off two preseason exhibition matches in which the Hatters played Daytona State College and Georgia State.

All-Time Series
The Hatters look to even the series between the non-conference opponents as the Panthers lead the all-time series 4-5-1 against the Hatters, but since 2015, Stetson is 3-0-1 against FIU and have won its last two in a row against the Panthers.
 
When Last We Met
In the spring season, the Hatters downed FIU 3-1 behind two goals from Jackie Fiacco and a single goal from Maggie Struble. Thursday's match will be the second time in the last four seasons that the Hatters and the Panthers will meet to open up their respective seasons. 
 
Returners and Newcomers
Stetson returns 20 players from its roster a year ago while adding 10 new faces to the program. Among the key returners for the Hatters is Fiacco, a graduate student from Camarillo, California. In the spring season, Fiacco led the Hatters with three goals on the year and was named to the ASUN All-Academic team.

Stetson returns to DeLand for a three-game homestand beginning on Sunday, Aug. 22 as the Hatters take on Oakland University. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
