Hatters Drop Finale at Mercer Bears Classic

Thompson, Djokovic record 12 kills apiece

Macon, Ga. -- Despite a decisive 25-13 victory in the second set, Stetson fell 3-1 to New Hampshire Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Mercer Bears Classic at Hawkins Arena.

Stetson hit .297 (11-3-27) in the second set but just .032 over final two frames. The loss dropped the Hatters to 0-3 on the season.

Elena Djokovic recorded a dozen kills to lead the offense.  Alexis Thompson tied a career-high with 11 kills. She hit .333 and five digs.  Djokovic reached double figures in kills for the third consecutive match.

Freshman setter Nyah Molina collected her third straight double-double with 25 assists and 17 digs. Alejandra Perez picked up a 18 digs at libero.

Stetson served a season-high nine aces, including two each from Leilani Vitale, Lindsey Leipold and Molina.

Hannah Serbousek led the Wildcats (1-2) with 10 kills.

The Hatters will return to action next weekend at the FAU Paradise Classic in Boca Raton, Fla.  Stetson will face CSU Bakersfield, Bethune-Cookman, and FAU.
