Hatters Sweep Alcorn State to Win GSU Invitational

Stetson Goes 3-0 on The Weekend

Atlanta, Ga. -- Elena Djokovic led the way with 13 kills and 10 digs as Stetson swept Alcorn State 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-16) Saturday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.

With the victory, the Hatters (4-5) completed the weekend with a perfect 3-0 mark to win the GSU Invitational. It is Stetson's first tournament sweep since going 3-0 at the FIU Kickoff in 2018.

The Hatters led wire-to-wire Saturday, including a 9-0 run to open the match.  Stetson hit .417 in set 2 alone and .261 overall.

Djokovic's double-double was her second of the weekend and third of the season.  Alexis Thompson, meanwhile, registered eight kills on nine swings without an error, good for an .889 attack percentage.  Leilani Vitale and Yamelis Mojica chipped in six kills and five kills, respectively, while Kaylee Oscarson went 4-for-4 in attack attempts.

Setter Nyah Molina dished out 31 assists while adding 10 digs, three aces, and three kills.  It was her third double-double of the weekend and seventh of the season.  Libero Alejandra Perez extended her season-long double-digit dig streak by collecting 14 digs in the back row.

Djokovic earned tournament MVP honors while Thompson and Perez joined her on the all-tournament team.

Alcorn State fell to 0-9.

The Hatters will be home for the first time this season when they host USF, New Mexico State and Bethune-Cookman next weekend for the Stetson Invitational.
