Hatters return to Palmetto State to square off with South Carolina State

Orangeburg, S.C. -- The Stetson University women's soccer team gets set to travel to Orangeburg, S.C. as the Hatters take on South Carolina State in a non-conference match at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

Stetson's women's soccer team comes off a 2-1 loss to Georgia Southern back on Friday, Sept. 10. In the loss, freshman Kyleigh Thelen scored the Hatters lone goal of the match as she found the back of the Eagles net on a free kick with 30 seconds left in regulation.

The Hatters and the Eagles each totaled 11 shots on the afternoon as Thelen had four with two on goal while Lea Alexander and Jackie Fiacco each totaled two for the Hatters.

All-Time Series
The Hatters lead the all-time series with South Carolina State 3-0 with matches dating back to Sept. of 2013. The last meeting between the Hatters and the Bulldogs was back on Oct. 4, 2015 as Stetson came away with an 8-0 victory.

Scouting the Bulldogs
South Carolina State comes off a 6-0 loss to University of South Carolina-Upstate as the Bulldogs fell to 0-6 on the year. Ha'teya Holloman leads the Bulldogs with one goal and two points on the season.

Hatter Notes
Fiacco and Thelen lead the Hatters with two goals scored and one assist with a total of five points on the season. Lea Alexander and Maggie Struble each have a goal and an assist for a total of three points on the year. Stetson goalkeeper Ashleigh Wise is 2-2 on the year with two shutouts and a .784 save percentage as Stetson holds a 2-4-1 record.

Looking Ahead
After heading to Orangeburg, Stetson's women's soccer team continues its long stretch of road matches as the Hatters travel to Orlando on Sunday, Sept. 19 to take on UCF in another non-conference bout. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
