Hatters set to open ASUN Conference play at home

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's soccer team gets set to open ASUN Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 23 as the Hatters take on the Bellarmine University Knights at the ATC. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Admission is $5.00 or free with a Stetson University ID.

Recap
Stetson comes off five straight road matches as the Hatters went 1-3-1 against their last five non-conference opponents. Back on Sept, 16, the Hatters downed South Carolina State 3-0 behind goals from Evie Wysong, Jillian Therrien, and Georgia Place. On Sept. 19, in their final non-conference match before ASUN play, the Hatters fell 5-0 to UCF.

Scouting the Knights
The Bellarmine University Knights come into Thursday's match with a 2-1-5 record. The Knights come off a 3-2 win over Chicago State University back on Sept. 16 but then were shutout 4-0 back on Sunday, Sept. 19 at University of Kentucky.

Regan Kommor leads the Knights with two goals and six points and is tied with Sarah Buse and Zenia Nava for the team lead in assists with two. Five other Knights have each scored a goal as Buse, Nava, Grady Clark, Sophie Bish, and Katie Gawrys all have a tally entering conference play.

All-Time Series
Thursday's match between the Knights and the Hatters will be the first time in each program's history that the two schools will meet. In June of 2019, Bellarmine was invited to join the Atlantic Sun Conference and in July of 2020, the Knights officially elevated from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I.

Hatters Notes
Kyleigh Thelen and Jackie Fiacco lead the Hatters with two goals each on the season with Thelen leading in assists (2) and points (6). Five other Hatters have a single goal on the year as Wysong, Therrien, Place, Maggie Struble, and Lea Alexander all have a tally heading into ASUN action. Goalkeeper Ashleigh Wise is 3-3-1 with three shutouts and a .725 save percentage.

Looking Ahead
After the Hatters take on the Knights in their ASUN opener, Stetson continues play at home as the Hatters host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Admission is $5.00 or free with a Stetson University ID.
