Hatters travel to Georgia Southern to face the Eagles

Statesboro, Ga. – The Stetson University women's soccer team travels north to Georgia Southern University on Friday, Sept. 10 as the Hatters take on the Eagles in a non-conference match. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.

Stetson's women's soccer team comes off a two-match road trip to South Carolina as the Hatters played Charleston Southern University to a scoreless draw and then fell 1-0 late to The Citadel.

In the Hatters double-overtime draw against the Cougars, sophomore goalkeeper Ashleigh Wise made six saves in six attempts as Stetson held its opponent off the board for the second time this season.

Scouting the Eagles
Georgia Southern comes off a 1-0 loss at Jacksonville State back on Sunday, Sept. 5. The Eagles are now 3-2-1 heading into Friday's matchup with the Hatters. Marcela Montoya leads GSU with four goals with nine points on the year. Elis Nemstov is second with three goals and seven points.

All-Time Series
Stetson is 4-5 in the all-time series against Georgia Southern dating back to Sept. 12, 1993. The Hatters and the Eagles last squared off on February, 13 2021 during the COVID-shortened season. The Eagles took that match 2-1, but the Hatters look to even the all-time series at five apiece on Friday afternoon.

Graduate student Jackie Fiacco leads the Hatters with two goals and five points on the season while Lea Alexander, Maggie Struble and Kyleigh Thelen have each scored one goal and recorded an assist.

Looking Ahead
Six days after Stetson's women's soccer team faces the Eagles in Statesboro, the Hatters travel to Orangeburg, S.C. to take on South Carolina State in another non-conference road match. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
