Hatters set for spring 2022 home opener

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University women's tennis program gets set for its 2022 season opener Friday morning as the Hatters host Mercer University in a dual match. First serve is at 11 a.m. and will be streamed on the Stetson tennis Facebook page.

2021 Recap
Last season, the Stetson women's tennis team earned the fourth seed in the South Division for the 2021 ASUN Championship after posting one conference win. The Hatters have landed a spot in the ASUN Championship every year since 1986.

The program boasted two all-conference student-athletes as Anais Gabriel earned First-Team All-Conference honors after putting up a perfect 3-0 doubles record in ASUN action while 2021 graduate Katie Kubicz landed a spot on Second-Team. Noa Cohen and Kubicz led the Hatters in wins as they each posted seven victories on the season. All seven of Cohen's came in the fifth flight.

All-Time Series
Friday's match will be the 13th meeting between Stetson and Mercer as the two teams last met on March 4, 2018, when the Hatters topped the Bears 4-2. Stetson leads the all-time series 11-1 and looks to continue its success over Mercer on Friday morning.

The 2022 Hatters
Stetson enters Friday's match having added three freshmen and a transfer to their roster as Cheri Darley, Alanna Di Francesco, Laetitia Rizk and Nadejda Maslova all join the Hatters for the spring season.

Looking Ahead
After Friday's bout with the Bears, Stetson sits idle for a week and returns to action on Friday, Jan. 28 as the Hatters host Florida National. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
