Jacksonville, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's basketball team looks to get in the win column in ASUN Conference play as the Hatters get set to take on University of North Florida on Saturday, Jan 8. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Recap
Stetson enters Saturday's contest with a 6-8 overall record and is 0-1 in ASUN action after the Hatters 75-59 conference opener loss to Liberty University Tuesday night at the Edmunds Center. Rob Perry led all scorers on the night as the junior tallied 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. Chase Johnston recorded his sixth game in a row with double figures as he put up 13 while Christiaan Jones added 11 of his own.

Scouting the Ospreys
UNF enters Saturday's contest with a 4-10 overall record and is 0-1 in ASUN Conference play as the Ospreys fell 74-67 to FGCU in their ASUN opener on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

The Ospreys offense averages 69.29 points per game as UNF has only two players that average double figures. Sophomore guard Jose Placer averages 12.9 points per game while Carter Hendricksen is just under 11 points per game at 10.6. The Ospreys are an historically good 3-point shooting team and have displayed their range from beyond the arc this year. As a team, UNF is fifth in the conference in both made 3-point field goals with 142 and 3-point percentage at 35.9 percent.

All-Time Series
Saturday's contest will be the 35th all-time meeting between the Hatters and the Ospreys as UNF holds the series lead with a 21-13 record over the Hatters. Stetson and UNF last met on Feb. 27 last season as the Hatters came out on top 85-68. Five Hatters recorded double figures as Christiaan Jones led all scorers with 20. Chase Johnston tallied 14 and Mahamadou Diawara, Wheza Panzo and Josh Smith all recorded 13 points in the win.

Scouting the Hatters
The Hatters come into Saturday's game winners of four of their last six games as Stetson closed out December with two wins over Piedmont University and Point University. Liberty was a strong opponent to begin ASUN action as the Flames were tabbed to win this year's league title. Meanwhile, UNF was tabbed to finish seventh and received a first-place vote.

The Hatters will need to continue receiving double figure scoring efforts from Perry, Johnston, and Jones to remain competitive as Perry leads the Hatters with 15.4 points per game, good for fifth in the ASUN. Johnston and Jones average 12.9 and 11.8 respectively as Johnston is second in the league in 3-point field goals with 45.

Looking Ahead
After their bout with the Ospreys, the Hatters will return to Jacksonville as Stetson continues its ASUN Conference schedule with a road contest against Jacksonville University on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
