Women's Soccer back at home for a pair of ASUN Matches

DELAND, Fla. – Stetson women's soccer returns to the confines of the Athletic Training Center for a pair of ASUN matches featuring Austin Peay on Thursday night with Lipscomb closing out the weekend Sunday afternoon. Both games will be broadcast on Hattervision YouTube.

"It's about execution," head coach Chris Bergmann said "The opportunities were there in both games [this past weekend] and ultimately, it's finishing them, nothing complicated. When this team works together one focus, one mind and one goal then the sky is the limit. I think this team has so much to offer still this season. They have moments where they believe that collectively and when they click, they can be unbelievable, we just need that finished product. We know it's there; it's about finding it at the right time."

The Governors are winless in their last four games but defeated North Alabama the last time they played a road game. AP has three games left and while near the bottom of the table, the Thursday opponents will be playing hard to climb the table. A win for the visitors would put the high enough up the table to make the post season, pending further results. Both teams will want to get back into the win column with postseason ambitions.

The offense for the Governors flows through freshman midfielder Alec Baumgardt paces the squad with three goals and three assists. Six other players have rippled the mesh with six other players recording an assist with crossover between both categories.

Sunday's opponents, Lipscomb, are in a battle with Liberty for the ASUN top spot. As of this preview, Liberty has the top spot based upon goal difference and better overall record. Both teams sit at 6-0-1 in ASUN play, but the Bisons and Flames will not meet on the field of play until the postseason. Lipscomb will play the ASUN third place team FGCU on Friday and could further solidify a top-two position and push for an ASUN crown. For the Hatters, they were the lone blemish on Liberty's record and could regain confidence and league standing with a good Sunday result.

A key to Sunday will be stopping redshirt senior midfielder Kelli Beiler that leads the league in goals with 10. Beller has scored four in her last three games played. Five other Bison have recorded multiple goals on the season. LU leads a chunk of ASUN statistical categories including assists (24) points (86) and corner kicks (84). Lipscomb is second in goals scored (31) and fewest goals allowed (10).
