ATLANTA – Hatter women's tennis completed day two of the ITA southeast region competition yesterday and continue competition with day three today at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on the campus of Georgia Tech.

"We faced some tough competition today in lots of matches and it was exactly what we needed," head coach
Travis Sandlant said in review of Friday's performance. "We had a few chances but overall we were outplayed. Anais picked up a big win today which was good to see. Tomorrow will be the same, we know that. Hopefully we can take the next step."

Friday was a main draw with doubles round of 32, singles 64 and 32.

Today features doubles round of 16 and quarterfinals. The singles round of 16 and consolation round begins.

It was a tough day for the Hatters starting with doubles. Alanna Di Francesco and
Anais Gabriel fell in doubles 8-7 (2) starting the day.
Noa Cohen and
Nadejda Maslova fell to a tandem from Florida State 8-2.

In singles, the competition was equally as fierce with Cohen dropping a match to Georgia's Mai Nirundorn, 6-2, 6-3. Gabriel forced a third set in her match with Florida's Carly Biggs, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. Di Francesco followed suit against Kylie Bilchev of Georgia Tech, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

In the consolation round, Gabriel knocked off Florida State's Kristyna Lavickova 2-6, 6-4 (10-6) to move to the round of 16 on the consolation side.

While it was a difficult day on the court, the Hatters were there because they qualified to compete. Four players competed Thursday with junior
Nadejda Maslova defeating Eden Schlagenhauf (6-1, 3-6, 12-10 in a playoff) of Mercer to advance to the round of 16.

Magdalena Hedzrak and
Tess Menten fell in the opening singles round with the later nearly pushing for a third set,

In doubles, Maslova and
Noa Cohen (8-3) advanced to the next round while Hedrzak and Menten were highly competitive, falling [8-6].
