Hatters head to Fort Myers for rematch with FGCU

Fort Myers, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's basketball team gets set for its first ASUN East Division rematch as the Hatters head to Fort Myers to take on Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Feb. 12. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Recap
Stetson enters Saturday's game coming off a 63-57, come-from-behind, upset victory over Jacksonville State on Wednesday night. The Hatters trailed by 12 at the half and after a 7-1 run to start the second stanza, Stetson continued to chip away before Chase Johnston drained a 3-pointer with 2:23 left to give the Hatters the lead for good.

Johnston finished with 18 while Christiaan Jones recorded his fourth double-double of the year with 18 points and 12 boards. In the win, Jones reached the 600 career rebounds threshold while Mahamadou Diawara hit 500 for his career.

Scouting the Eagles
FGCU enters Saturday's contest on a three-game win streak as the Eagles finished West Division play with a 4-2 record over the six cross-divisional games. Overall, FGCU sits at 16-9 and 6-5 in ASUN action.

Tavian Dunn-Martin continues to lead the Eagles with 19.8 points per game and is 22nd in the nation in the category. Kevin Samuel and Cyrus Largie have continued to be Dunn-Martin's support as the pair averages 11.8 and 11.0 points per game, respectively.

Last Time We Met
The Hatters and Eagles met back on Jan. 18, and it was FGCU that came out on top 93-91 in what was an overtime thriller at the Edmunds Center. Stetson looks to take the momentum from its upset win on Wednesday night into its bout with the Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

Scouting the Hatters
The Hatters enter Saturday's contest winners of three of their last four. After recording its second worst scoring total against Bellarmine on Jan. 27, Stetson has outscored its opponents 328-302 in the four games since.

Over his last four games, Jones has averaged 19.3 points per game with 9.0 boards while Johnston has averaged 17.0 points and nearly four 3-pointers per game over the same stretch.

Looking Ahead
From here on out, Stetson's men's hoops will face fellow ASUN East Division opponents for a second time. After their second bout with the Eagles, the Hatters return to the Edmunds Center to square off against Jacksonville University on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
